Categories: General Events

Taste of the North West is a showcase of Tasmania’s North West region’s finest food and beverages, held in Sheffield’s picturesque King George V Park with majestic Mount Roland as a backdrop. First staged in April 2009, the event coincides with the final Saturday of Sheffield’s annual Mural Fest, ensuring two great reasons to visit Tassie’s "Town of Murals”.

Past events have drawn estimated crowds of more than 4,000 people who enjoyed a range of regional produce including rabbit pies, German-style smallgoods, free range lamb sausages, pulled pork tacos and ale and beef pies, all washed down with locally produced beer, wine, cider and fruit wine.

In 2012 the committee offered a new concept – The Larder – for small businesses producing food items such as preserves, olive oil, jams and chutneys. The Larder provides small businesses with exposure to motivated consumers at a very low cost and is supported by publicity around the event.

Taste of the North West focuses on value added local produce with clear links to north-west Tasmanian producers.
Food and beverages will feature predominantly north west Tasmanian produce.
Preferred suppliers are businesses based in north west Tasmania.

Patron entry is free for the Taste of the North West, ensuring a relaxed atmosphere in the park, with the event catering for locals and for gourmet tourists from further afield.
