Dooleys Track

Dooley’s Trail runs along the Wilmot River from Alma Reserve to Spellmans Reserve at Castra. It follows the original track carved out by James Dooley in the 1850s. The prospector sought to create a supply route for pack horses from Forth to the mines along the river to Gad Hill, Black Bluff and beyond. A loop track has been created to allow for a return journey with low water crossings marked along the route.

Dooleys Track leaves Alma Reserve along Jamiesons Road. Please note: Some of the trail crosses private land. Please ensure that the privacy of landholders is respected and keep to the walking track as marked. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a leash while passing through private property. This trail is no longer maintained so users may encounter fallen trees.
