Government Huts - Mt Field

In winter months freezing conditions and snow are common. this requires all guests to ensure you have warm clothing, sleeping bag and supply of food for a day or two in case of road closures. Guests should be self sufficient and responsible for arranging their own transport to and from the huts. You will need to prepare your car for these conditions. Radiators should have anti-freeze additive, batteries need to be serviceable, and if in a 2wd vehicle, chains may need to be carried and fitted. After hours key collection is on the door of the visitor centre. Your key will be in an envelope with your name on it. Please return your key to the visitor centre. After hours key return is via the registration box. Please leave the cabin clean ready for the next occupant.

They are basic with running water, wood heater, and six bunks with mattresses. Visitors should come prepared as if for camping.

Cancellation Policy

A $23 fee to Parks and Wildlife and a $22 booking centre cancellation fee applies if you cancel more than 14 days before your scheduled arrival. After this time refunds do not apply. If a cancellation is made at short notice due to ill health a medical certificate must be provided and an application made in writing for a full refund to apply. All refund applications will be considered on a case by case basis. A full refund will apply if the road is closed by the Road Management Authority. No refunds given due to lack of snow. As the huts are remotely located legislation requires that a fire warden be appointed in all huts. By proceeding with this booking you agree to be this warden and familiarise yourself with the fire evacuation plan and proceedures provided in the huts.
